Pacific East Cafe Website

A closer look at the app, the systems I owned, and the features behind it.

Product and client delivery

  • Built and delivered a paid production website for Pacific East Cafe as the sole full-stack developer.
  • Worked directly with Eli Popik to gather requirements, collect assets, review designs, and approve revisions.
  • Created public workflows for menus, ordering, catering, private parties, jobs, events, specials, reviews, gallery content, and accessibility.
  • Kept menu and image content editable after delivery so the client could make updates without changing source code.

Full-stack systems

  • Built an Astro and TypeScript application with shared layouts, reusable components, server-rendered pages, and API routes.
  • Used Cloudflare D1 for menu, form, review, and administrative data, and Cloudflare R2 for restaurant imagery and CDN delivery.
  • Integrated Resend for form notification emails and Toast for ordering and rewards workflows.
  • Added client-side and server-side validation, sanitization, upload restrictions, submission limits, and compatibility fallbacks for older database schemas.

Editable menus and responsive experience

  • Built admin controls for categories, items, prices, descriptions, visibility, ordering, Toast links, and images.
  • Implemented hot-swappable menu images with alternate-image selection, zoom, and positioning controls.
  • Created seven menu presentation variants with reusable shared menu cards and configured the Lakeside Light design for production.
  • Designed separate food and drink responsive layouts for desktop and mobile, including a collapsible mobile section selector.
  • Added analytics for page views, ordering, rewards, directions, phone calls, forms, menu categories, and scroll depth.
